Lady Rangers Drop Home Contest to SAU Tech

Northwest to face National Park College on Friday afternoon

Box Score SENATOBIA - A 19-7 first quarter lead evaporated for Northwest, as SAU Tech closed out a 15-0 run with a half-court buzzer beater to take the lead for good in a 73-60 loss for the Lady Rangers on Thursday evening.

Northwest also scored just 10 points in the second quarter and fell behind 38-29 at halftime, as SAU Tech handed the Lady Rangers their third straight loss, dropping the team's record to 3-3 overall.

Though Northwest remained within 10 points or so throughout the second half, the Lady Rangers just couldn't find the run needed to close the gap. The Lady Rockets led 57-47 at the end of the third and remained ahead over the span of the fourth quarter.

Marian Jenkins led the Lady Rangers with 11 points, while Manaca Keyes and Rebekah Pilcher provided nine points apiece. Sydney Brazil also added nine points off the bench, all from three-point range.

Jaida Minter led the Lady Rockets with 21 points, followed by 17 points from Sh'Diamond McKnight and 10 points from Jada Burell.

Northwest will aim to snap its losing streak with a quick turnaround on Friday afternoon, hosting National Park College for a 2 P.M. tipoff. The Lady Nighthawks got the best of the Lady Rangers in an earlier matchup between the two teams last Saturday.
