MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Northwest freshman
Colby Burgess stood alone during the bull riding finals at Southern Arkansas this weekend.
Burgess, a freshman from Houlka, was the only competitor across the board to place in the bull riding event, earning 120 total points for the Northwest men's rodeo team. His efforts allowed the Rangers to finish seventh overall at last weekend's event, while Burgess moved to second* in the Ozark Region standings.
Although the Lady Rangers did not place as a team, freshman
Riley Kate Lenagar did earn seventh individually in the first round of the barrel racing competition, but did not place in the second round.
Northwest will conclude the fall portion of the schedule at Murray State University, beginning Thursday, November 18 and running through Saturday, Nov. 20.
*Due to a delay in results from the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, individual and team standings for the Ozark Region are unavailable at this time.
