SIKESTON, Mo. - Northwest sophomore
Zachary Johnson picked up the Rangers' second individual win of the 2021-22 rodeo season, as the Inverness, Miss. native earned a first place finish in bull riding with 77 points during last weekend's Three Rivers College Rodeo.
Johnson's first career victory helped propel the Northwest men to a 10th place finish with 100 team points, finishing ahead of Wyatt Hart (UT Martin) and Cole Skender (Three Rivers). The women's team did not place, despite clean runs in the Friday morning slack from Riley Lenagar,
Lucy Denton and
Kyndal Key.
For the season, Northwest sits in eighth place with 290 points in the Ozark Region men's standings, ahead of Murray State and Arkansas-Monticello. The Rangers will be back in action at Southern Arkansas University from November 4-6.
