MARSHALL, Mo. – Northwest team roping twins Brandon and
Brennan Tomlinson captured a third place finish to help the Rangers' men's rodeo squad to an eighth place result at last weekend's Viking Stampede at Missouri Valley College.
Hailing from Maben and East Webster High School, the duo finished second in the long go and tying for third in overall average, along with the UT Martin pairing of Chasen Thrasher and Randall Walker. The results produced 160 team points for the Northwest men, just slightly behind Arkansas Monticello and Southern Arkansas, both of which tied for sixth overall with totals of 165 points.
Sophomore
Cade Cowan also competed in team roping but failed to catch, resulting in no points awarded. The Rangers were also unable to receive any points in bull riding, as all Northwest riders were bucked off for no time.
Although the women's team failed to place, sophomore barrel racer
Caroline Crawford provided the best chance by potentially earning a second-place result in the long go, but she was disqualified due to a fallen barrel.
Northwest will resume action this weekend in the West Alabama Rodeo, which has been moved from Livingston, Ala. to the Lauderdale County Agricenter in Meridian. The Rangers will compete from Thursday, Sept. 24-Saturday, Sept. 26.
