MOBILE, Ala. – A pair of former Northwest football standouts have been named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Top 250 list, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.
Kentucky cornerback
Brandin Echols and Ole Miss defensive lineman
Tariqious Tisdale both earned recognition to the preseason watch list, which highlights top college football seniors. The game itself annually serves as the first step of the NFL draft process and has had 40 players selected in the first three rounds each of the past two years, including 10 first-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Echols, a 5'11, 178-pound cornerback from Southaven, is coming off a strong junior campaign that featured 54 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and a team-high nine pass breakups. His best performance last season came in a loss at Mississippi State, where Echols earned 10 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
While at Northwest from 2017-18, Echols totaled 83 tackles, 17 pass breakups, nine interceptions and 3.5 tackles-for-loss, helping the Rangers to consecutive MACJC playoff appearances. He was named first team All-MACJC, All-Region 23 and second team NJCAA All-American honors prior to signing with Kentucky.
A 6'5, 295-pound defensive end from Jackson, Tenn., Tisdale has appeared in all 24 games for Ole Miss over the past two seasons. In his two seasons with the Rebels, Tisdale has accumulated 61 total tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss and three sacks, twice reaching a career-best of six tackles against Cal last season and ULM in 2018.
In his only season with the Rangers in 2017, Tisdale played in 11 contests and earned five starts. His 31 total tackles, five sacks and 11 tackles-for-loss helped Northwest to an 8-3 overall record and a MACJC North Division title.
Echols and Tisdale are one of 42 former Northwest players currently featured on a Division I roster. Click
