BLUE MOUNTAIN – Former Northwest forward Mallory Russell is the latest Lady Ranger to take her talents to the next level after signing with Blue Mountain College on Monday afternoon.

Russell departs Northwest after a successful two-year span that saw her total 356 career points for an average of 7.6 points per game. The Ingomar native also totaled 349 career rebounds with an average of 8.3 boards per game, placing her 10th and eighth all-time in both respective categories.

During her stint in Senatobia, Russell also proved to be a solid swatter, blocking 44 shots in two seasons to finish in a tie for 10th in program history.

"Mallory has been a great person both on and off the court during two great years with us," Northwest women's basketball coach Troy Howell said. "She played through pain and was truly a winner from the beginning. We thank her for her dedication to the Lady Rangers and her contributions will be missed."

Russell capped her career with five double-doubles, three of which came during the Lady Rangers' 2019-20 campaign. Her last one came in a career-best 17-point, 12-rebound performance on Sophomore Night against Holmes on Feb. 17, 2020.

Her efforts during the Lady Rangers' stellar postseason run did not go unnoticed either, as she scored in double figures in victories against East Mississippi, Gulf Coast and in a loss to Jones College in the Region 23 Tournament championship, earning All-Tournament team accolades.

Russell is the third member of the Lady Rangers' 2019-20 squad to sign to the four-year level, joining Kayla Freeman and Tamarah Sykes who inked with Mississippi College in May.

As a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, Blue Mountain College competes in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Lady Toppers finished 8-16 last season.
