MONTICELLO, Ark. – Jacob Hodges' second place finish in bull riding played a pivotal role in earning a sixth overall finish for the Northwest men's rodeo team last weekend at UAM.

Hodges, who fell just four points shy of overall winner Trevor Zerrusen (Three Rivers College), collected 148 of the team's 200 points on the weekend, propelling him to first place in the season's bull riding standings. His 380 points for the season lies well ahead of second-place Kolten Achenbach (Missouri Valley College; 300 points), keeping Hodges well in contention for a bid to the College National Finals Rodeo in June.

In team roping, Cade Cowan and his partner, Cannon Smith (Three Rivers College) finished with a result of 17.9, good for a fourth-place finish. The duo now sits at third place for the season in the Ozark Region with 405 points.

Despite not placing over the weekend, Caroline Crawford remains in the top five of the regional standings in barrel racing with 275 total points.

Northwest currently sits at seventh in the men's standings of the Ozark Region with 872.50 points. The Ranger women did not place over the weekend but currently check in at ninth overall with 275 points for the season, closing in on eighth place Murray State University (315).

With the rest of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association season up in the air due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is uncertain if the Rangers will be able to complete the remainder of their spring schedule. As of now, Northwest is still scheduled to compete at Pearl River on March 26-28.
