HILLSBORO, Ore. – With no game played last week due to Coahoma's decision to postpone last Thursday's scheduled matchup, Northwest remains at No. 9 in this week's edition of the "Dirty 30" rankings from JCGridiron.com.
Northwest (2-0) is one of five MACCC programs ranked in the national rankings, which also include other NJCAA institutions and schools from the California Community College Athletic Association.
Mississippi Gulf Coast remains at No. 2 despite being in the midst of a COVID-19 halt of its own. The defending national champions are 3-0 on the season and will resume action next week against Southwest Mississippi.
Joining the Bulldogs and the Rangers in the "Dirty 30" rankings are fellow MACCC programs Hinds (11th), Jones College (12th) and Northeast (23rd). East Central, Copiah-Lincoln, Pearl River and Itawamba are also noted as bubble teams.
KJCCC powerhouse Garden City remains at No. 1 overall in anticipation of a spring season, while Riverside City (Calif.), Lackawanna (Pa.) and Iowa Central round out the top five.
Northwest is scheduled to resume competition on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Mississippi Delta. The Rangers are 44-23-2 all-time against the Trojans and have won 13 of the last 14 meetings, with the last loss occurring in 2013.
Kickoff from Moorhead is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be seen on nwccrangers.com/watch.
