RAYMOND – One goal was all it took for Hinds to edge out Northwest in an intense division-opening match on Friday night.
Despite a solid defensive effort from
Tim Spencer, the Rangers dropped to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the MACJC North Division with the loss. Hinds improved to 1-1-1 and 1-0 in division play with the victory.
Both teams battled in a scoreless effort for most of the first half until Beau Rimmer found Greg Anderson for the Eagles' one and only goal in the 42nd minute.
Northwest tried to dial up its offensive attack in the second half against a stout Hinds defense, but the Eagles still finished with an 18-6 shot advantage in the match.
Spencer collected nine saves on the evening for the Rangers while Dawson Albritton netted four stops for the Eagles.
Northwest will look for its first goal and first win of the season on Tuesday in the Rangers' home opener against Meridian. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. start with live stats provided through nwccrangers.com.
