MERIDIAN – Northwest freshman
Mallory Williamson's second place finish in barrel racing helped lift the Northwest women to a fifth place overall finish in the East Mississippi rodeo last weekend.
Williamson's time of 28.21 was just behind event winner Raegan Taylor's (UT Martin) result of 27.75.
For the three-day event, the Northwest women finished in fifth place out of 10 teams with a total score of 125. The result provided a boost for the Rangers in the Ozark Region standings, as Northwest jumped up to 10th in the region with 233.33 points.
Despite not placing in the weekend event, the Northwest men continue to hold in seventh overall in the standings with 330 points.
Northwest will take another extended break for the month of March, resuming action at the end of the month at Arkansas-Monticello's event on March 28-30.
