Ranger Men Place Fifth Overall at Three Rivers

SIKESTON, Mo. – For the second consecutive week, the Northwest men's rodeo team put forth a solid showing in a rodeo event, taking home fifth place in last weekend's event, hosted by Three Rivers College.

Northwest finished with 260 total points and ahead of host Three Rivers (6th), Arkansas Monticello (7th) and Southern Arkansas (8th).

Jacob Hodges was the big winner for the Rangers, taking home the top overall finish in the bull riding event. With 157 points, Hodges placed just slightly ahead of runner-up Jakob Sellers of Three Rivers.

Brothers Brennan and Brandon Tomlinson once again performed well in the team roping event, with the Northwest duo capturing 31.3 points and a sixth place finish. Cade Cowan also competed in team roping, placing eighth with partner Cannon Smith of Three Rivers.

Northwest currently stands at sixth in the Ozark Region standings with a total of 420 points. The Ranger women did not place at last weekend's event but continue to hold steady at eighth overall with 160 points.

"I was proud of all of our team members and their hard work this past weekend," Northwest rodeo coach Shelli Benton said. "Jacob received an injury Saturday night but we look forward to having a three-week break until our next competition to heal up. We are looking forward to getting back out there in our next competition at Southern Arkansas."

The next event at SAU is slated to begin on Thursday, Oct. 31 and run through Saturday, Nov. 2.
