DALLAS – Former Northwest and Oregon State defensive back Treston DeCoud was selected in the second round of the XFL Draft on Wednesday afternoon, joining the Dallas Renegades organization.
DeCoud, a former fifth round pick of the Houston Texans in the 2017 NFL Draft, joins the Renegades after a two-year NFL career that featured stints with both the Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
Though DeCoud got shuffled around among crowded defenses in the NFL, the Hammond, La. native had quite the collegiate career at Oregon State, tallying 108 career tackles and 15 pass breakups while starting 21 career games and garnering Pac-12 Honorable Mention accolades.
At Northwest, DeCoud totaled 38 tackles, seven breakups and six interceptions for 73 yards, earning All-MACJC, All-NJCAA Region 23 and NJCAA First Team All-American honors.
DeCoud became the 20th all-time NFL draft pick and the Rangers' first since Daniel Thomas (Kansas State) in 2011.
Dallas is one of the eight inaugural teams of the new XFL, set to formally kickoff in spring 2020.
