CHARLOTTE – Northwest freshman tailback
Jaquerrious Williams has been awarded Offensive Player of the Week honors by both the MACJC and NJCAA, the two organizations announced this week.
Williams picked up this week's recognition after racking up 250 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries in last Thursday's 54-18 Homecoming defeat of Coahoma. He is the second Ranger in as many weeks to earn both conference and national POTW accolades after
Cameron Wynn's stellar performance at East Mississippi on Oct. 3.
Williams accounted for 61 percent of the Rangers' 407 rushing yards in the victory, while his four rushing touchdowns also tied a single-game program record. The win against Coahoma also marked his first game this season with 100-plus yards on the ground.
Through seven games, the Tupelo native leads the team in rushing with 535 yards and eight touchdowns with an average of 76.4 yards per game.
Northwest (6-1, 3-1 MACJC North) will pay a visit to Northeast (3-4, 2-2) on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available for the contest at nwccrangers.com.
