SENATOBIA – A late goal from Leo Gutierrez spoiled the shutout for Hinds but that was about the only highlight of a 6-1 Northwest loss on Tuesday afternoon.

With the loss, Northwest suffered its sixth consecutive defeat despite snapping a three-match scoreless skid. The Rangers dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in the MACJC North Division.

Less than six minutes in, Morrison Hashii provided Hinds with the first score of the match, thanks to a feed from Greg Anderson. Hashii struck again in the 18th minute from Braylen Greer, pushing the Rangers to a 2-0 deficit.

Things would only get worse for the Rangers in the first half as Brandon Russell provided the Eagles with their third goal and a penalty shot in the 35th minute made it a 4-0 lead for Hinds at the break.

Northwest still had no answer for Hinds in the second half, as the Eagles scored in the 50th and 75th minutes to make it an insurmountable 6-0 deficit for the Rangers.

Gutierrez' goal in the 87th minute was the first of his collegiate career and saved the Rangers from being shutout in their fourth straight match.

Hinds outshot Northwest by a whopping 28-8 overall and 16-4 on goal. The match was also a physical one for both teams with a combined 30 fouls being called.

Tim Spencer netted 10 or more saves for the fourth consecutive match, bringing his already record-breaking career total to 165.

Northwest will step out of division play one final time this weekend in Milledgeville, Ga., where the Rangers will face Georgia Military College on Friday night, Oct. 4 and Wake Tech on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.
