MERIDIAN – Three second half goals allowed Meridian to pull away from Northwest on Tuesday afternoon, as the Rangers dropped a 4-1 decision to the Eagles to close out a two-match road swing.
Northwest (0-3) remained winless on the season, while Meridian picked up its first win to improve to 1-3 overall.
Meridian led 1-0 at halftime, due to an own goal scored in the 22nd minute. The Eagles then added to their lead less than a minute into the second half, as Tresor Kobea connected with Josh Cochran to back the Rangers up with a 2-0 deficit.

Meridian made the celebration short-lived, however, as Hayden Brett scored off a header less than two minutes later, pushing the deficit back to two goals, 3-1.
Another own goal in the 62nd minute provided Meridian with a parting shot, setting the pace for the 4-1 final result.
Both teams finished almost even in the final shot tally, with the Rangers being outshot 16-13. Meridian, however, finished in favor 15-6 on shots-on-goal.
Logan Barham collected 11 saves in his first career start at goalkeeper.
Northwest will continue to seek its first win in Friday's non-division match against Andrew College (Ga.). The two teams will square off at 4 p.m. from Senatobia.
