ATLANTA –
For the second consecutive season and the third time in four years, the Northwest women's basketball team has been recognized on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association has announced.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point average (GPA) inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2017-18 season is the 23rd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
With a 3.122 cumulative grade-point average, the 2017-18 Northwest women's basketball team finished 15th in the Junior/Community College Division. The Lady Rangers are the only representative honored from the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC).
It's the third honor this offseason for the Lady Rangers, also being nominated as an All-Academic Team for both the MACJC and the NJCAA.
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
