WEST POINT – Oak Hill Academy senior Mallory Williamson will continue her rodeo career at the college level after signing with Northwest late last week.
Rodeo has been a fixture for Williamson since the age of five, when she began riding horses. At just six years old, she began formally competing in rodeo events.
More recently, she has won the barrels and pole bending events in the senior girls' division of the Mississippi Little Britches Rodeo Association and first place in the Philadelphia Rodeo.
"I can't even explain how excited I am to continue this journey," Williamson told WCBI-TV. "The all-around atmosphere at Northwest is great. They offered online classes where I could stay home and work on my horses if needed, and other colleges that I looked at didn't offer that."
Williamson is the first rodeo signee in school history from Oak Hill.
