Ericka Richardson posted her second career double-double,
Lindsay Hall added 16 points and Northwest enjoyed a big night on the boards as the Lady Rangers handed SAU Tech its first loss of the season, 68-60, Tuesday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest led for all but five minutes in the win, snapping a three-game losing streak to improve to 3-5. SAU Tech fell to 5-1 and was held to its lowest point total of the season.
Neither team led by more than six points in the opening half, with the Lady Rangers taking a 34-28 lead into intermission.
SAU Tech rallied behind the hot hand of Brandashia Hargraves in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 47-46 after three. Hargraves would finish with a game-high 17 points.
Leading just 53-52 with 6:42 to play, a 15-5 run for the Lady Rangers over a five-minute span in the fourth extended their lead to 68-57. Hall had seven of her 16 points during the run.
The final bucket of the game came off a Hargraves 3-pointer just as time expired to make the final 68-60.
Northwest used 21 offensive rebounds to outscore SAU Tech 20-8 in second chance points.
Behind Richardson's 16 points and 14 rebounds and Hall's 16,
Mallory Russell and
Nakia Walker added eight points apiece and
Sydney Liddell and
Ariel Tunstall chipped in seven for Northwest.
Northwest will travel to Blue Mountain JV on Thursday for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
