Strong Bench Effort Leads Lady Rangers Past Blue Mountain

SENATOBIA – Behind 62 points from the Lady Ranger bench, Northwest broke the century mark for the second time this season with a 102-48 road victory against Blue Mountain JV on Thursday night.

Northwest improved to 4-5 overall as Blue Mountain fell to 1-6 on the season.

After jumping out to an early 14-0 lead, the Lady Rangers saw Blue Mountain go on a 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 17-11 with 2:21 remaining in the opening quarter.

Leading 21-12 entering the second quarter, Northwest broke away from the Lady Toppers for good, jumping back out to a 21-point lead just three minutes in.

Northwest saw its advantage swell to as many as 33 before halftime and the Lady Rangers outscored Blue Mountain 34-12 over the span of the second quarter, taking a 55-24 lead into the locker room.

There was no sign of a second half slowdown for the Lady Rangers, as Northwest pushed the lead to 50 at the end of the third period.

Northwest would extend the margin to its highest point of 57 with just a minute left on the clock, before Kylie Massengill's three with less than 30 seconds brought the score to its final conclusion.

Perhaps the most eye-popping stat of the night came in bench points, where the Lady Rangers shutout Blue Mountain by a whopping 62-0 margin.

Northwest also earned 44 points in the paint, 44 points off turnovers and shot 48 percent for the contest.
