BOONEVILLE – After totaling a career-best 16 tackles in last Thursday's 34-7 victory at Itawamba, sophomore outside linebacker Jonathan Jones has been named the MACJC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Jones also added a sack, a tackle-for-loss and a fumble recovery to go with his 16 stops, shattering his previous best of 10 tackles set against Northeast the week prior.

Through nine games, the Charleston native has recorded 60 tackles, good for third on the team, along with 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two quarterback hurries, a breakup and a fumble recovery. 

During his freshman season, Jones tallied 36 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss and a fumble recovery, while also earning a nod to the MACJC's All-Academic Team.
