BOONEVILLE – After helping Northwest to a sweep at 18th-ranked East Mississippi and a split with top-ranked Jones County last week, sophomores David Herrington and Jarod Wright have swept the MACJC weekly baseball awards announced on Tuesday.

Herrington earned the Player of the Week award for the first time in his solid two-year career, going 11-for-18 with three doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored and 13 RBIs.

Wright earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time of his career and first this season, holding No. 1 JCJC to four hits and one run (unearned) with a career-high 10 strikeouts in a complete-game performance.

Both players will now be nominated for NJCAA weekly honors to be announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Northwest swept EMCC 22-1 and 6-4 and handed JCJC its first loss in 27 tries dating back to last season.
