ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore offensive guard Damien Lewis of Northwest has been named to the 2017 Capital One Academic All-District Football First Team as voted upon by more than 3,000 members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Lewis has maintained a 3.48 cumulative GPA in general college and becomes the ninth all-time academic all-district football selection from Northwest. Academic All-America honors will be announced in December.

The Canton High School product has been the ideal student-athlete, taking care of business in the classroom and on the field. In addition to CoSIDA academic all-district honors, Lewis was named to the 2016-17 MACJC All-Academic Team, 2016-17 NJCAA All-Academic Third Team and the spring 2017 Dean's List.

Lewis has started all 22 games of his Northwest career at right guard and has graded out at the highest percentage of all Ranger offensive linemen thanks to his unbelievable combination of power and foot speed.

Lewis will graduate from Northwest in December and has already generated over a dozen Division I scholarship offers, including the likes of LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky and Colorado.
