SENATOBIA — Five second half goals for the visiting Itawamba Indians broke open what was a 1-0 game at the half as Northwest dropped a 6-0 decision in men's soccer action Friday afternoon.
Itawamba improved to 7-5-1 overall, 4-2-1 in north division play, while Northwest fell to 2-7-1 and 1-6 in the north.
Brian Heredia's goal just 4:46 into the match, his first of the season, gave the Indians the early lead that they would never surrender.
Itawamba outshot Northwest 14-1 in the opening 45 minutes, however, led just 1-0 at the half.
The Indians would then pour it on in the second half, using a pair of goals from Alexis Resendiz (51',60') and goals from three other players to pull away.
Northwest managed only two shots on goal from
Trace Manning and
Parker Trawick.
The Rangers close out north division play on Tuesday at Hinds and then close the regular season 10/21 at home against Andrew College.
