Therrell Gosier II had a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench and
Isaiah Austin added his third career double-double as Northwest pulled away for an 80-65 win over Coahoma Monday night.
Northwest won its seventh straight over the Tigers to improve to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the division, while Coahoma fell to 3-13 and 1-3 in the north.
The Tigers scored the game's first five points and led for the opening 7:16 before Northwest pulled in front for the first time.
Brandon Cranford scored five straight and
Cameron Walker added a layup off a Gosier assist to cap a 9-2 run and give the Rangers a 17-14 lead.
Cranford's 3-pointer with just under six seconds left made it 38-32 Northwest at the break.
Both teams struggled from the floor and finished shooting under 29 percent in the half, but Northwest forced 14 Tiger turnovers that led to 11 easy points. The Ranger bench also outscored CCC 22-6, led by Cranford's nine.
A six-point halftime lead quickly doubled to 46-34 as Austin scored eight straight for Northwest to start the second half.
The Rangers continued to pour it on, stretching their lead to as many as 22 with 6:29 to play with a trio of dunks from Gosier, Walker and
Jaylan Shelton.
Coahoma never got within single digits the game's final 17:16 and Northwest was able to salt away the game to earn its 10th win.
Northwest won the game in the paint with a 42-16 advantage and used 46 bench points, led by Gosier's 17 and Cranford's 11 points. CCC was led by Malik Bailey's 13 and 10 from LeDarius Woods.
Northwest will step out of division play for the final time this season, traveling to ASU Mid-South for a 7:30 tipoff on Thursday, Jan. 26. The Rangers won the first meeting of the season 83-70 back on Nov. 7 in Senatobia.
