FULTON – Three unanswered goals from Itawamba in 3:33 span in the second half lifted the Indians past Northwest, 3-1, on Tuesday afternoon.
Northwest fell to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the north with the loss, as ICC improved to 4-3 and 1-2 in division play.
Lance Crabtree put the Rangers ahead 20 minutes into the first half with a goal from
Peyton McKnatt's corner kick, his conference-leading eighth assist of the year.
The Rangers would take nine more shots over the course of the first half, but couldn't expand on the lead, keeping the score at 1-0 at halftime.
ICC began to turn the tables offensively in the second half and tied the game in the 71st minute with Cameron O'Daniel's free kick outside the box.
Itawamba issued a quick response less than three minutes later, as O'Daniel found Michael Kiser for the go-ahead goal, giving the Indians a 2-1 advantage. Just 26 seconds later, Boston Hampton's shot attempt bounced back to Luis Garcia, who would score the third and final goal of the afternoon.
Northwest was outshot 20-14 by Itawamba, including a 12-5 on goal advantage.
Brandon Carrillo collected nine saves for the Rangers, while Thomas Blake was credited with four.
Northwest will have an extended break before its next contest, a non-division contest against Southwest Mississippi on Sept. 23. First kick is set for 1 p.m. in Senatobia.
