ELLISVILLE – Northwest rebounded nicely from its worst loss in nine years on Saturday, defeating Jones County 2-1 on Tuesday in Ellisville for the Bobcats' season-opener.
Northwest improved to 2-1 on the young season and has now beaten JCJC in four straight contests.
Sophomore
Bryant Young put the Rangers on the board 1:54 before halftime, scoring off a free kick taken by
Christian Clements just outside the box.
JCJC (0-1) found the equalizer in the 69th minute from Keiran Robbins, but seven minutes later,
Michael Ledbetter sent in the game-winner from
Peyton McKnatt for a 2-1 Ranger victory.
McKnatt picked up his fifth assist in three contests, which currently leads the NJCAA.
Brandon Carrillo needed four saves to earn his second win of the year, while Daren Ross picked up six saves but allowed both goals for JCJC.
Northwest owned a 17-15 shot advantage, including 8-5 on goal.
The Rangers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Hinds to open north division play.
