MONTICELLO, Ark. – Competing in the second rodeo event of the spring season, Northwest's men's rodeo team used performances by
Will Tindall and
John Mark Johnson to score 65 points and
Ashton Finch had a strong barrel run at Monticello.
"Coming into the second semester of our rodeo season, I can say I feel more confident than ever," Tindall said. "I've been determined to better my personal game. When you add up a new game plan, a new mount, a great school and coaching staff, that is a formula for success. I'm excited to see what our team can accomplish."
Johnson placed sixth in bareback riding and Tindall finished seventh in tie down roping.
"I saw a new fire in our team this weekend in Monticello," head coach
Shelli Benton said. "Every team member stepped up to the duty and followed through to the best of their ability. John Mark had an awesome bareback ride during the Thursday night performance with one of his highest scores and
Ashton Finch blew the doors off in barrels with a 16.17 second run. Will made a smooth clean run in calf roping and made it back to the short-go round and bringing home team points for the rodeo."
Three events remain for the spring rodeo season. Next up is April 14-16 at UT-Martin, followed by Northwest's annual event at the Multipurpose Arena April 21-23.
