Sara Lytle Named to WBCA Coaches' All-America Team

ATLANTA – Sophomore forward Sara Lytle capped off her Northwest women's basketball career with the highest honor on Tuesday, being named one of 10 players on the 2016 WBCA Coaches' All-America Team.

Lytle is just the second WBCA Coaches' All-America selection in program history behind Rhonda "KK" Mikes, a two-time all-american in 1984-85 and 1985-86. She's also the lone selection from the Mississippi junior college ranks on this year's prestigious list.

"The 10 members of the 2016 WBCA Junior/Community College Coaches' All-America Team are well deserving of this recognition and the WBCA congratulates them for their accomplishments this season," WBCA executive director Danielle Donehew said. "These young women have worked to elevate themselves and their teams to an elite level and through their exceptional talents on the basketball court, they have lifted the women's game."

Lytle averaged averaged 17.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks-per-game this season – all team highs – en route to first team all-conference and all-region honors. She was also named to the NJCAA Region 23 All-Tournament Team and earned MACJC and NJCAA Division I National Co-Player of the Week honors for games played Feb. 1-7.

The Memphis native (Evangelical Christian School) scored in double figures in all but four games this season, posting nine double-doubles and scoring 20 or more eight times. She shot a team-high 51 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the stripe, and in addition to averaging a near double-double, added 52 blocks, 35 assists and 22 steals.

Lytle ends her Lady Ranger career fourth all-time in blocks (74), free throws made (192) and free throws attempted (281), 11th in scoring (655 points) and 14th in rebounds/game (6.7).
