Pep Rally, Basketball Meet the Rangers Set for Oct. 25

SENATOBIA – Northwest Mississippi Community College invites students, faculty, staff and the community to "Meet the Rangers" night for men's and women's basketball on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Howard Coliseum.

The Ranger cheerleading squad will perform and the players of both basketball teams will be introduced. In addition, a football pep rally will be held in advance of Thursday's final regular season contest against Northeast. The entire event should last around 30 minutes.

The Lady Rangers finished 16-6 and 9-3 in the MACJC North Division a year ago, while the men's team went 17-9 and 8-4 in the division. Both teams advanced to the conference and region tournaments, with the men's team finishing one win short of advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Northwest's football team is ranked fifth nationally at 7-1 overall and will host 10th-ranked Northeast on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. With a win, the Rangers would clinch a spot in the MACJC Playoffs for the third consecutive season and the 27th time in 35 seasons.

Northwest will open the 2016-17 basketball schedule with a men's home game against Tennessee Prep Academy on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The Lady Rangers will host ASU Mid-South to open their regular season on Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.
