MARSHALL, Mo. – In the first rodeo event of the 2015-16 season at Missouri Valley College, Northwest's men's team posted its best finish in recent memory while the women's team also had a solid weekend.

"I feel like this is one of our best team finishes since I started in January," head coach Shelli Benton said. "Our men's team scored over 200 points and our women's team also performed very well. Overall, I'm very proud and am looking forward to a great season."

Behind strong showings from John Mark Johnson and Shawn Davis, the Ranger men finished fourth overall with 250 points, one spot behind fellow MACJC member East Mississippi in third.

Johnson and Davis scored 100 points apiece in their respective bareback riding and bull-riding events.

On the women's side, sophomore Caleigh Greene was sitting in the Top 10 Friday afternoon in barrel racing before being knocked out.

Northwest will return to action Oct. 8-10, traveling to West Alabama.
