RAYMOND – Rafael Vidana scored a pair of goals and KJ Armstrong added one late to help the host Hinds Eagles blank Northwest 3-0 Friday afternoon at Tom Shepherd Field.
Hinds improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the division while Northwest dropped to 5-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the north.
Similar to the women's match which preceded the men's, Northwest had multiple scoring opportunities all night but just couldn't find the back of the net. The Rangers hit the post twice and the crossbar once and had two other attempts sail feet wide over the top of the goal.
Hinds owned a small 19-17 shot advantage while the teams each attempted four corners. Known as a pretty physical team and typically the aggressor, Hinds was hit with 20 fouls against only six for Northwest.
Hill Belding posted five saves to earn a shutout while
Matthew Williams had six saves and allowed all three goals.
Northwest will try and bounce back at Meridian on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
