Box Score SENATOBIA – A strong first half, which included two goals within the first 6:55 of play, helped solidify Northwest's second straight win on Wednesday, 3-0, against Itawamba.
Northwest improved to 5-2-1 on the season and 2-1 in MACJC North Division play. Itawamba dropped to 1-3-1 and 0-2-1 in the division with the loss.
Less than three minutes into the contest, sophomore
Karim Mueller drilled a beautiful goal from 40 yards out, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 advantage.
Northwest followed with another goal in the 7th minute, as
Armando Barron headed in his third goal of the season off
Bryant Young's corner kick, extending the Rangers' lead to a 2-0 margin.
Neither team was able to score again in the first half and the second half got off to a quiet start as well, until
Victor Ruedas bounced one off the post and into the other side of the net for his third goal of the season. The goal in the 71st minute gave the Rangers a 3-0 lead and the final goal of the match.
Sophomore
Matthew Williams was big between the posts for the Rangers, picking up a career-high 11 saves and his second clean sheet of the year.
Northwest will go for its third division win on Friday at Hinds. The kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Raymond.
