DECATUR – East Central got a pair of first half goals from Lacey Field and Kenzie Jenkins and held off Northwest for a 2-1 win on a muggy Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.
East Central improved to a school-record best 5-0 and 2-0 in division play. Northwest dropped to 1-2-1 overall and 0-2 in the north division.
Trailing 2-0 at the half,
Jameka Barr's second goal of the season off a
Tristan Kitchens assist pulled the Lady Rangers within 2-1 with just under 30 minutes to play but that's as close as Northwest would get.
The Lady Warriors controlled the tempo all afternoon, outshooting Northwest 17-6, including a 13-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Ashley Nelson did her best to keep the Lady Rangers in the match, posting seven of her 11 saves in the second half. Kaitlyn Knuth had three saves for ECCC.
Northwest will try and rebound against Itawamba on Wednesday, Sept. 16 when they return to Senatobia for a 2 p.m. kick.
