Tarow Barney Named to Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List

MOBILE, Ala. – Former Northwest Mississippi Community College four-star defensive tackle Tarow Barney of Penn State has been named to the 2016 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List.

The watch list includes more than 350 student-athletes from nearly every level of college football. That will be broken down to 110 roster spots that form the north and south squads for the nation's premier all-star game. A player not on the initial list can be added to the watch list during the season and be invited to the 2016 game.

Barney appeared in 12 games as a junior for Penn State, recording seven tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks and a forced fumble. In his two seasons at Northwest, Barney had 56 tackles, 9.5 TFL, nine hurries, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He helped the Rangers to a 2012 Brazos Valley Bowl win.

A native of Bainbridge, Ga., and Bainbridge High School, Barney is listed at 6-foot-1, 306-pounds and was rated a 4-star prospect by 247sports.com and the No. 3 DT in the 2014 class.

Barney chose Penn State over other offers from Kansas State, Arizona State, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa State, UAB, UTEP, Middle Tennessee State, Texas-San Antonio and Miami (Ohio). He also had major interest from Alabama and Northern Illinois.
