SENATOBIA – The Ranger Rodeo, sponsored by Sycamore Bank, is set for Thursday - Saturday, April 23-25 at the Northwest Mississippi Community College Multipurpose Arena. The main event will begin at 7:30 each night.
Each night Collegiate cowboys and cowgirls from 15 colleges and universities from across a seven-state area will converge on Senatobia for three nights of action as they ride and rope, hoping to garner points that will qualify them to compete at the College National Finals this June in Casper, Wyoming.
Rodeo fans will have the opportunity to see some of the rankest livestock in the country as the big trucks from the Universal Rodeo Company roll into town. Rodeo Clown Wayne West of Oklahoma will entertain fans each night.
The Northwest Rodeo Alumni and Boosters guarantee a fun night for the entire family. On Thursday night, Northwest head football coach
Jack Wright and women's soccer head coach
Levi Nunnally compete for a win in the cow-milking contest.
During Friday and Saturday performances contestants will be selected at random to vie for their win at the cow-milking contest.
"Get your family and friends and come out and enjoy watching some of the best cowboy/cowgirl talent in a seven-state region," rodeo chairperson Dolores Wooten said. "This is the finals and the winners are going to Wyoming to compete in the CNFR and will be announced at the end of the Saturday night performance."
Tickets are on sale at any Sycamore Bank location, the Tate County Co-Op and the Northwest Foundation office. General admission is $10 at the gate and $8 in advance, while children six-and-under are free with a paid adult.
On Thursday night, admission is free with a Northwest ID. Saturday is Military Night, and all military personnel are admitted free with a military ID. There is also a $20 three-day pass available for purchase.
"I would like to thank our sponsors for providing the support for this event and our rodeo program," Wooten said. "We look forward to seeing you at the 2015 Sycamore Bank Ranger Rodeo."
