Box Score RIDGELAND – Juan Flores scored the go-ahead goal for Holmes just 43 seconds into the match and the host Bulldogs tacked on two more to cruise to a 3-1 win over Northwest Tuesday afternoon at Freedom Ridge Park.
Holmes improved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the north while the Rangers dropped to 4-5 overall and 1-3.
Holmes outshot Northwest 28-9 on the day and fired 13 shots-on-goal against just three for the Rangers.
Josh Delgado had a career-high 10 saves for Northwest, including a big save on a penalty kick late in the second half.
Amadou Dia (3) pulled Northwest within 2-1 in the 48th minute, scoring off a free kick just outside the box.
Jimmy Doonan put it away for the Bulldogs in the 82nd minute, making the final 3-1.
In an always physical matchup, the teams combined for 33 fouls and five yellow cards.
Northwest will host Copiah-Lincoln (1-6) on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.
