Rodeo Team Puts on Annual Event in Senatobia

Final Results

SENATOBIA – Hosting its annual Ranger Rodeo at the Northwest Multipurpose Arena April 3-5, almost 1,200 were in attendance to watch some of the top competition in the Ozark Region over the three days.

"It was a good event this weekend and the attendance was great," fifth-year head coach Bruce Lee said.

Unfortunately for Northwest, neither team had a competitor place in the barrel racing or bull riding events.

Fellow MACJC member East Mississippi won first place on the men's side with 650 points, followed in the Top 5 by UT-Martin (590), West Alabama (545), Murray State (545) and Missouri Valley College (260).

On the women's side, Murray State won with 252.50 points in front of second place finisher West Alabama (185) and third place finisher East Mississippi (177.50).

With one event remaining in the Ozark Region April 10-12 at UT-Martin, Ben Cullum currently sits in first place with 445 points in bull riding, just 20 points ahead of MVC's Coleman Rude.

Colby Dowell is in a tie for eighth in barrel racing with 170 points, and last year's Ozark Region winner, Kindyl Scruggs, is in 12th place with 150 points.

The top two places in each event will qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Wyoming in June.
