Box Score PERKINSTON – Sophomore midfielder Holly Newman connected on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to lift Northwest to a 1-0 road win over Gulf Coast on Friday and help set a new school record with the team's 11th shutout of the season.

Northwest improved to 9-4-4 on the year while Gulf Coast ended its season at 3-12-1.

Newman's PK was one of only three shots for the Lady Rangers in the match, but proved to be the game-winner. Gulf Coast owned a 10-3 shot advantage. 

Ashley Nelson needed just three saves to pick up her ninth win in net and 11th shutout.

The Lady Rangers will travel to Meridian on Tuesday, Oct. 28 for a play-in game at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to the state tournament Nov. 1-2 in Ellisville.
