Amadou Dia and
Armando Barron scored within 8 minutes of each other to give Northwest a 2-0 lead that they would hang on to the final 44 minutes in a huge road win at Hinds on Saturday.
It marked the Rangers' first-ever win in Raymond in 13 tries. Northwest improved to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the north division while Hinds dropped its first north division game to fall to 4-1 and 7-4 overall.
Dia broke a scoreless game in the 39th minute, scoring off a free kick from
Armando Barron into the right side of the net, to make it 1-0 Rangers at the break.
Just 1:51 into the second half, Barron made it 2-0 off an assist from
Tyler Gill, more than enough of a lead for goalkeepers
Josh Delgado and
Matthew Williams.
Delgado had seven saves in 67:10 in net while Williams played the final 22:50 and had three saves to contribute to a combined shutout.
Hinds outshot Northwest 21-10 but was denied on all 10 of its shots on goal.
Northwest returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at East Central.
