Rangers, Eagles Battle to 2-2 Overtime Draw

Box Score RAYMOND – Leading by two goals late and dominating the match up until that point, host Hinds netted two goals in the final 6 minutes to force overtime and come away with a 2-2 draw Friday night.

Northwest stayed unbeaten on the year at 2-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the north, while Hinds moved to 2-2-2 and 1-0-2 in division play.

An always physical match when the teams meet, the two combined for 33 fouls, four yellow cards and a red.

Northwest struck first in the 12th minute when Zach Farmer found Anthony Fernandez for the 1-0 lead. Aaron Terrazas added his team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 40th minute from Muhamed Bojang and the Rangers led 2-0 at the half.

The lead stayed true down to the final 6 minutes until Bojang was whistled for a red card and Hinds immediately capitalized to cut the lead to 2-1.

The momentum carried into the game-tying goal with 53 seconds left in regulation when Nathan Miley took a free kick and struck it over the head of goalkeeper Taylor Thevenot to send the match into overtime.

Neither team scored the two ensuing 10 minute overtime periods and the match ended in a draw.

Northwest will try and stay unbeaten on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at home against Itawamba.
