Donaldson Claims First Prize at 2010 Bull-O-Rama

SENATOBIA – In the 19th Annual Bull-O-Rama event hosted this past Saturday night at the Northwest Community College Multi Purpose Arena, Oklahoma native and professional bull rider Kolt Donaldson took home the first place cash prize in a field of 30 riders from six different states.

"I thought the event went pretty good," Northwest second-year head rodeo coach Bruce Lee said. "We doubled our promotion efforts from a year ago and had close to 1,000 at the event."

A 2008 qualifier for the Pro Bull Rider World Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., Donaldson rode one of four bulls brought in from the PBR and pro tours and took first place over Ross Berney (Coffeyville) and Pat James (Oxford) who split the second place finish.

The annual two-hour event, that features both professional and college riders, is a fundraiser for the Northwest rodeo program. Money collected from the gate and donations help defray travel costs that include trips to Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky this season.

"We have a couple guys who have a shot to do something in the bull riding and calf riding events this year," Lee said. "We'll get it all going this weekend in Missouri and see what we've got."

The team will open the fall this weekend, Sept. 23-25 at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo.
