TEXARKANA, Ark. – The Northwest rodeo team sent three competitors to this weekend's rodeo at Four States Fair Grounds, however, did not place in any of the three events entered.

Along with second-year head coach Bruce Lee, Brian Dowdy, Lucas Boatwright and Ashley Williams battled a rough trip over, dodging severe thunderstorms but making it there in one piece to the first-ever event hosted by first-year program Cossatot CC.

Dowdy and Boatwright competed in the bull-riding event, while Williams was entered in the breakaway roping and barrel racing events.

"I was proud of the kids' efforts," Lee said. "And I'm looking for better things when we go to the University of Arkansas-Monticello at the end of the month."

The weekend was highlighted by sophomore Brian Dowdy's bull ride, getting the crowd on their feet for 7.5 seconds, but coming up just short.

Northwest will return to action March 31-April 2 at Arkansas-Monticello.
