Box Score UTICA – Northwest forced 34 turnovers and held Hinds to 28 percent shooting for the game as they led wire-to-wire in an 83-56 road win Monday night.
Northwest improved to 3-0 on the year, while Hinds fell to 0-1.
Leading 29-25 at the half, the Lady Rangers went on a 17-4 run over the opening 5:06 of the second half to take a 46-32 lead. Freshman
Tenesha Woods hit back-to-back-to-back 3s on three straight possessions to open up a double digit game, and Northwest kept the game that way the final 14:54.
Woods scored 15 of her career-high 21 in the second half, while
Tekevanna Young and
Leah Lytle each scored 10 in the period in which the Lady Rangers outscored the Lady Bulldogs 54-31.
Northwest used a season-high 41 bench points on the night in the win with
Anna Rosenbaum scoring seven and
Jacquelyn Brooks scoring five behind Woods' 21.
Hinds was paced by 11 points and 20 rebounds from Delania Wilson and seven points and 10 rebounds from Alexis Hawthorne. They owned the rebounding edge 66-48 on the night.
The Lady Rangers will return to action on Wednesday at Jackson State CC. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
