Bulldogs Bite Rangers 3-0

Box Score SENATOBIA – Peyton Campbell scored his first two goals of the season for visiting Holmes and the Bulldogs dealt the Rangers a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday afternoon to split the season series.

Holmes moved to 7-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the north division, while the Rangers fell to 5-2-2 overall and 2-2-1 in division play.

Both teams had their share of missed opportunities, with Northwest hitting the post twice and Holmes hitting the crossbar twice. Each team took 16 shots in the contest and Holmes put constant pressure on the Rangers with 13 corners against just three for Northwest.

Holmes took a 1-0 lead at the 38:52-mark of the first half on Campbell's first of two goals.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute when Ryan Olson struck a shot just over the head of keeper Taylor Thevenot. The final dagger then came in the 74th minute when Campbell headed in a perfect Cody Bailey cross. 

Michael Wood had eight saves in a clean sheet for Holmes, while Thevenot had four in the loss. 

Northwest will try and regroup next Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. when they host Hinds.
