Box Score SENATOBIA – A pair of Ranger sophomores stepped up in clutch moments in their final home matches, as
Aaron Terrazas scored the game-tying goal in the 80th minute to send the game into overtime where
Gnande Zleh would net the game-winner in the 93rd minute for a thrilling 2-1 win over Hinds.
Northwest improved to 6-2-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the north while Hinds fell to 4-7-3 overall and 3-1-3.
In a match that was nearly called after regulation due to darkness, the referees and teams agreed to play overtime. It only took Zleh 2:25 into the extra period to score the golden goal.
The teams were evenly matched on the pitch with 17 shots apiece, but it was Hinds who was much more physical and it backfired late in allowing the game-tying goal after one of three consecutive yellow cards. All told, the Eagles were hit with 20 fouls against just six for Northwest.
Scoreless at half, Nathan Miley gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute when he took a rebound shot from Breland Brooks and beat the keeper to the left corner of the box.
Terrazas and the Rangers tied it at 1-1 at the 79:29-mark, using a great ball in from
Fletcher Hall.
Zleh would then net his second game-winner of the season and third of his career in the first overtime period off a leave into the box from
Anthony Fernandez, giving Northwest a thrilling win in its home finale.
Northwest will return to the pitch on Friday, traveling to division-leading Itawamba for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
