Hot-Shooting Lady Rangers Rout Itawamba, 78-55

FULTON – Sophomore Nikki McChristian pumped in a second straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Shaquilla Isom tied a season-high with 18 points as Northwest picked up a convincing, 78-55 road win over Itawamba Saturday afternoon. | Final Box

Northwest won for just the second time in the last six tries in Fulton and improved to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the north division. Itawamba fell to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the division with the loss.

The hot-shooting Lady Rangers connected on a season-high 56 percent of their attempts from the floor and held Itawamba to just 32 percent shooting on the afternoon.

Northwest owned the stat sheet in almost every statistical category, including rebounds, steals, assists and field goal percentage. They also improved to 7-1 on the season when scoring 70 or more points.  

Three scorers finished in double figures for Northwest, including Isom (18), Tiesha Tunstall (15) and McChristian (13) while Northwest outscored the Itawamba bench 27-14.

Itawamba was led by 15 points from Ty-Nita Baker, 11 from Jasmine Hampton and 10 from Ashley Wiley.

After six weeks away from Senatobia, Northwest will return to Howard Coliseum Tuesday, Jan. 22. The Lady Rangers host Mississippi Delta (7-5, 2-1 north) at 5 p.m.
