SENATOBIA – The Northwest women's basketball team used 11 different scorers, including sophomore
Monique Biggins' 15th career double-double, as they rolled to a 75-47 win over Hinds Thursday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest improved to 3-0 on the year while Hinds fell to 1-2.
Despite poor shooting from both teams in the opening 20 minutes, Northwest led comfortably 43-14 at the half. The Lady Rangers shot 28 percent from the floor while Hinds connected on just 20 percent.
Northwest led by as many as 36 with 16:32 left to play as they pounded the glass all night and pulled down 32 offensive boards that led to second chance points. The Lady Rangers ended the night with a 66-48 rebounding edge.
Freshman Leah Lytle scored 11 of her game and career-high 15 points in the second half on 5-of-9 aim and also pulled down seven rebounds.
Hinds outscored Northwest 33-32 in the second half but couldn't overcome a huge halftime deficit.
Monique Biggins scored 11 points and added 15 rebounds to lead all Lady Rangers while Bethany Lytle added 12 and Shaq Isom chipped in nine points. Delania Wilson led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Northwest closed the night 22-of-82 (27 percent) from the floor and 7-of-38 (18 percent) from 3-point land.
The Lady Rangers will take to the road Nov. 12-13 for the Southwest Coca-Cola Classic in Summit. Northwest will play Co-Lin at 1:30 p.m. Monday and host Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
