Zleh's Golden Goal Helps Rangers Snap 12-Match North Streak

FULTON – Freshman forward Gnande Zleh scored with less than five minutes left in double overtime and Northwest snapped a 12-match winless streak in MACJC north division play with a thrilling, 2-1 win at Itawamba Friday afternoon.

Northwest moved to 5-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in division play with the victory while Itawamba was eliminated from playoff contention in falling to 5-6-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Dylan Castoria (Peyton Smith assist) netted his fourth goal of the year in the 62nd minute to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead before Taylor Nabors and ICC responded in the 68th minute to tie it.

The game remained tied the ensuing 37 minutes into double overtime until Zleh was able to take it himself for the score and the game-winner at the 104:45-mark.

Taylor Thevenot went the distance for Northwest between the posts and stopped five shots while his counterpart Cullen Grantham stopped four shots.

Northwest will close out the 2012 season next Tuesday in Senatobia at 4 p.m. against East Central.
