Rangers Close Season with 1-0 Loss to Hinds

SENATOBIA – The Northwest men's soccer season came to a close on chilly and windy Wednesday afternoon against Hinds, with the Eagles using a Jeremy Brown goal in the 41st minute to come away with a 1-0 road win.

Hinds ended its season at 7-10-1 (4-4 north) while Northwest dropped to 5-7-3 (2-4-2). The Rangers, who started the year 4-2, closed the year just 1-5-3 and missed the playoffs for a second-straight season.

The Eagles outshot the Rangers 12-6 on the afternoon, including 4-1 shots-on-goal, using what looked to be a miscommunication in front of the net that allowed Brown's goal off a Tony Davidson assist for the eventual game-winner.

Casey Ming needed just one save to earn the win between the posts, while John Denton picked up three saves to run his final season total to 100 on the nose.

Seven sophomores played in their final games, including Nathan SmithDonald Reyer, Fakhry Khulfan, Kenneth Zelaya, Rosendo Barron, Francisco Diaz and Tyler Dunn.
