SENATOBIA - The Northwest Mississippi Community College women's soccer team (5-0) continued to display their offensive prowess with an impressive 17-0 victory over National Park College (0-3) at the Ranger Soccer Complex in Senatobia.
The Rangers got on the score sheet only 48 seconds into the game when freshman Sunshine Little slotted home Melanie Holt's cross. Little quickly notched her second goal of the game only 18 seconds later when she put the ball in the back of the net from around six yards out. NWCC's third goal in four minutes came when Holt was able to finish Iriko Rakotoarimanana's pass, making the score 3-0 within the first five minutes.
The scoring did not slow down and Joline Knevel was able to add her name to the score sheet after finishing another Holt pass. The fifth Ranger goal came only 27 seconds later when sophomore Maggie Pace added her name to the score sheet. After assisting Holt's goal, Rokotoarimanana notched one of her own after heading home yet another Holt pass. Then, only ten seconds later, Holt became the second Northwest team member of the day to secure a brace when she finished Little's pass from 18 yards out.
Ella King became the sixth Ranger to add their name to the score sheet when she finished Pace's cross in the 16th minute. King then became the third player to secure a brace when she headed home Knevel's cross in the 31st minute.
Yet another NWCC team member notched a brace when Rokotoarimanana finished Little's cross in the 38th minute. Completing a first half offensive onslaught, Knevel scored the Rangers' 11th goal of the first half off of an assist from Kami Vega in the 42nd minute.
After making several substitutions to start the second half, the offense once again got off to a quick start with sophomore Emma Demassey adding her name to the score sheet in the 47th minute after a pass from Pace. Lara Stevens became the eighth Ranger to score when she headed home Demassey's pass in the 52nd minute.
Olivia Miller was able to extend the Northwest lead to 14 goals when she headed home freshman Hayden Moneymaker's cross in the 55th minute. Sophomore McKenzi Rankins was able to claim a goal of her own off of a cross from Demassey in the 57th minute.
Stevens became the sixth Ranger to secure a brace when she slotted home Demassey's cross in the 67th minute. The 17th, and final, goal of the game came when Moneymaker was granted a 1v1 opportunity with the keeper and was able to put the ball in the back of the net.
Northwest (5-0) will be back in action when they welcome Copiah-Lincoln Community College (2-0-1) to Senatobia and the Ranger Soccer Complex on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 p.m. for their MACCC opener.
